Katie Davies

I am Katie Davies and I began making my e cards almost 5 years ago. I am passionate about the environment and I am always on the look out for eco-friendly ideas. While searching for an e card for my Mum’s birthday on the internet, I realised that there were not many good quality e cards to send. I decided then to make my own e card with the help of my husband Nick who is an animator, taking the time to make sure it was really good quality.

I enjoyed making it so much that I wanted to do more! I thought up some new ideas and Nick and I got to work. We then set about making plans to create our own animated Ecards website. 18 months later we launched katiescards.com with just 25 cards and have steadily been adding more to the collection over the years – we now have over 160 in the collection, for all sorts of occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s day, Mothers day, Fathers day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Independence day, St Patrick’s day, engagement, wedding day, anniversary, new baby, new home, Canada day and many more!

I feel very fortunate that I am able to combine the things I love – art, being creative, environmental issues and working with Nick. I studied sculpture at university and after graduating I went onto become an art director for film and TV. When I became a mother, I decided I wanted to take a step back from my career so that I could bring up our children Molly and Joe. Now that the children are older and turning into young adults, I have more time, so Katies Cards came along at just the right time for me.

I enjoy tennis, art, film, traveling and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy taking long walks with our Jack Russell Plum. I love making e cards and genuinely wish to make you and your loved ones feel special when one of our cards is sent. My favourite card is the birthday fireworks e card.

My husband Nick

My husband Nick works with me to develop new ecard ideas and helps bring my drawings and paintings to life on the computer screen. He helped me to create my first e card for my Mum and has been instrumental in getting Katies Cards to where it is now.

Prior to Katies Cards, Nick studied animation at University. Once qualified, he embarked on a successful 8 years as an animator before deciding to go it alone and use his skills to work as a freelance animator for TV and film, which was how we met Barry.

Nick's favourite card is the 'rabbit dance' Easter e card.

Nick has an eclectic taste in music and enjoys food, cycling, films and spending time with friends and family.

I am very lucky to be able to work alongside my husband who is extremely talented and committed to producing such high quality cards for you to send!

Barry Sexton

Barry is a talented illustrator who has worked on many of our e-cards from an early stage. He has created most of the backgrounds and designed the characters you see in our collection of ecards. Barry has also been instrumental in helping to visualise my ideas and contributed to the more humorous card concepts!

He studied illustration at university before embarking on a successful 7 year career as an illustrator.

Barry’s favourite e card is Turkey Breakout 2 which is a humorous Christmas/Thanksgiving card in which a couple of intrepid turkeys try to escape their seasonal fate.

He is a keen follower of football and art and enjoys playing golf.

Ben Davis

Ben Davis has created many of the music tracks for our E cards, although we have also employed tracks from other sources.

Ben is based in Hebden Bridge in the Yorkshire dales and has been playing music all over the UK and world since 1991 as well as forging an illustrious production career that has seen his music being used for the launch of the Commonwealth Games, complimenting Formula 1 on BBC2, heavily licensed to compilations and rocking dancefloors world-wide.He has also been reviewed and featured in countless magazines including the cover of DJ Magazine.

He recently performed as Flash Atkins on the 'Fourth Plinth' in Trafalgar Square as part of Antony Gormley's One and Other project. You can find out more about him at flash-studios.co.uk

Racheal Ellis

Racheal was brought on board to help us promote Katies Cards due to her 7 years experience in marketing for both large and small companies. Unusually for a marketer, Racheal actually studied Sculpture at University, but after completing the degree realised that she didn’t want to follow the creative path, so went on a search to find the right career and has been a marketer ever since.

Racheal’s favourite e card is the birthday e card cake game (for girls) a fun game in which you have to try and stop the cake-eating monsters from getting their hands on your birthday cake by setting off a series of booby traps.

Racheal is a keen cook and a lover of all things food, fashion and interiors.
