About Us

You may want to know a little bit about the artists who create the animated e-cards that feature on this site...

Katie Davies studied Fine Art to degree level, after graduating she worked as an artist for fifteen years.

One day Katie was looking on the internet for an e-card to send to her Mother for her Birthday. She hunted around for some time but could not find a card she liked. Katie decided to make her own e-card. Her husband Nick, who is an animator helped her bring it to life.

She then came up with the idea of creating a website offering really good quality e-cards, where a bit more time and care was taken over the design and animation. So Katie's Cards was born, and being a very complex, technical and labour intensive project Katie and Nick had to collaborate with one or two other talented people to build the range of cards available on the site.

18 months later, in the summer of 2007 the site was launched offering just 25 e cards. We are working hard to add as many new e cards as we can, but each card takes approximately four to five weeks to complete. First we have to think of an idea, then storyboards are drawn up and characters and backgrounds are designed and painted. The animation takes two to three weeks for each card, then sound and music is commissioned and added to the finished card. At present we have over 130 unique cards to choose from, we hope you enjoy them.

You can read a bit more about how we make the cards and some more details on my blog: http://ecards.katiescards.com/
